Groups reschedule slow drive to tomorrow

Lawmaker-cum-unionist Leong Veng Chai, a vice president of the Macau Civil Servants Association (ATFPM), said yesterday that a slow-drive protest against the government’s “brutal” hike in vehicle-related fees will be staged tomorrow afternoon.

Leong announced the protest during a press conference at the ATFPM office in Zape. The slow drive was initially scheduled to take place last Saturday, but was postponed due to disagreement about the route between the organisers and the Public Security Police (PSP).

Leong said the groups had now accepted the route “adjusted” by the police to avoid further delays to the protest, which is being co-organised by the Workers’ Self-Help Union, the Citizens Group and Leong’s association.
