The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Annual Summit 2024 is slated to take place at Grand Lisboa Palace from Wednesday to Friday, the Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) said in a statement yesterday.

The event, held annually at different destinations, is set to gather around 400 tourism industry delegates from the Asia Pacific region for a string of meetings, several of which will also be attended by MGTO and other Macau PATA tourism industry members, while an international tourism conference will also be held, according to the statement. The three-day summit, themed “Reimagining Tourism”, will take place at Grand Lisboa Palace (GLP) in Cotai.

Moreover, the statement said that the PATA Youth Symposium 2024 will take place on Thursday morning at the private Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST). The summit’s opening ceremony will take place in the afternoon and will feature over 40 speakers from different parts of the world in more than 20 sessions.

APAVT National Congress 2025 to be hosted in Macau

Meanwhile, in a separate statement, MGTO said that the Portuguese Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies (APAVT) National Congress will be held in Macau from December 2 to 4, with preparations underway.

According to the statement, MGTO officials and six APAVT representatives convened the first work meeting on April 28 to hammer out the coordination of the upcoming event.

MGTO Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes and APAVT President Pedro Costa Ferreira attended the meeting with others and discussed the congress’s programme, promotional strategies and logistics arrangement.

Following the meeting, MGTO personnel and APAVT delegates also met with the chosen venue’s representatives and inspected the location’s facilities.

The APAVT was established in the 1950s and is “the most representative association of the Portuguese tourism industry”, according to the statement.
