A man has been arrested for hit-and-run and drunk driving, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Leong Chi Seng said during yesterday’s press conference.

The 34-year-old suspect surnamed Kam told the police he’s a designer.

According to Leong, the police received a report from a resident saying that there was a collision involving his car and another car on Thursday night in Avenida Padre Tomás Pereira in Taipa. However, the driver of the other car had fled the scene. The police were able to identify Kam as the driver and called him in for questioning at a police station.

Kam arrived at the police station early on Friday morning and “explained” to the police that he had left the scene because he needed to take his boss to the Taipa Ferry Terminal.

A subsequent blood test revealed that Kam had an alcohol concentration of 1.46 grams of alcohol per litre of blood. Kam admitted to consuming alcohol the previous night while having dinner with his boss.

Kam has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing charges of drunk-driving and evading responsibility, Leong said.
