The International School of Macao (TIS) held its first post-COVID-19 pandemic University Fair on its campus in Taipa yesterday, with over 90 universities from 13 different regions and countries, including Australia, Canada, France, Singapore, Switzerland, Spain, the UK and the US, in addition to the mainland, Hong Kong and Macau, participating in the one-day fair, which aimed to provide students with face-to-face access to information about the various tertiary education institutions, including degree programmes and scholarship applications.

When the first COVID-19 case was detected in Macau in early 2020, the annual fair, which started in 2012, could only be held online for the past three years.

“We strive to provide students with the best opportunities to expand their knowledge and broaden their horizons, connecting them with the best universities and programmes worldwide,” TIS Vice Principal Ryan Connolly told The Macau Post Daily before yesterday’s opening ceremony, adding that the school “firmly” believed that education is a shared responsibility.

Connolly said that although some of its Grade 12 students have already made their decision on which university they will attend to continue their studies, with some having obtained firm offers already, some students were still working on the process, adding that the fair could enable both Grade 12 and Grade 11 students or even their families to come up with their “big decision” for their future.

TIS, which opened in 2002, currently comprises 1,330 students from 27 different regions and countries, with local students accounting for the majority, according to Connolly.
