The Macallan Litha, a single malt whisky, was launched on Friday at a media event hosted by the Scottish distillery at China Rouge at the Galaxy Macau integrated resort in Cotai.

The local and Hong Kong media was invited to attend the event, which included a food presentation that featured a Chinese dinner set and four types of Macallan Whiskey drinks to savour.

According to a statement released by The Macallan Distillers Limited  from Scotland, the Litha is matured in 100 percent first-fill sherry-seasoned oak casks from Jerez de la Frontera in southern Spain, with an alcohol by volume (ABV) of 40 percent, which gives the whisky its intense, complex, and smooth flavour profile.

As the flavour develops, smooth vanilla ice cream topped with berry compote dances on the palate, beautifully balanced with warming wood spice, chocolate, salted caramel and pecans, and a lingering hint of sweet oak, the statement said.

“Scotland and Spain are two worlds interwoven into the very fabric of our single malt whisky,” said Kirsteen Campbell, Master Whisky Maker at The Macallan during the launch. “Each of these two very distinctive places make an invaluable contribution to the exceptional quality, renowned craftsmanship, and rich character of The Macallan Litha.”

The Macallan is a maker of Single Malt Scotch Whiskies founded in 1824 on a plateau above the River Spey in northeast Scotland. The statement noted.
