The “Stay, Dine and See Macao” programme will resume its hotel staycation experiences and local tours successively, provided that the COVID-19 situation in Macau is stable, according to a statement by the Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) on Saturday.

The programme, held from January 29 to August 31, was suspended owing to Macau’s recent COVID-19 outbreak which started in mid-June. The statement noted that 2,851 participants were affected by the previously cancelled local tours, while 5,511 hotel packages were axed. MGTO is currently considering the feasibility of the Educational Student Tours’ further operations, the statement said.

Meanwhile, according to the statement, sign-ups for hotel staycations have started, with check-ins resuming today. Each Macau resident, the statement underlined, is entitled to a one-off 200 pataca subsidy to stay at a local hotel, adding that the cost of each hotel room can be subsidised to a maximum quota for two residents, equal to 400 patacas in total.

The programme also welcomes sign-ups for local tours from today, with tour operations restarting on August 15. The statement added that each Macau resident can benefit from a subsidy of up to 280 patacas to participate in one of the local tours, which also includes a 100 pataca dining card to be given on the day of the tour.

The programme, MGTO pointed out, has been operating in line with the Health Bureau’s (SSM) COVID-19 pandemic prevention guidelines such as the need to wear a facemask, undergo a temperature check, scan the venue QR code and present a valid green Macau Health Code. Those with red or yellow health codes are not allowed to join the local tours.
