Police now suspect suicide, not murder, in hotel death

A 53-year-old man from the mainland likely committed suicide on Friday after being held against his will in a hotel room because he could not repay loan sharks, the Judiciary Police (PJ) said on Saturday.

Initially, after the man was found stabbed in the hotel room, the Judiciary Police (PJ) had said on Friday they suspected murder.

The Judiciary Police made the first assessment of the case at a press conference on Friday morning, several hours after the man had been found dead in the room of Emperor Hotel in Zape earlier that morning.
