Macau students and other local residents staying outside the special administrative region but wishing to return home should periodically assess the COVID-19 situation and pay attention to the epidemic development as well as the latest border entry regulations, the Education and Youth Development Bureau(DSEDJ) urged in a statement yesterday.

The bureau also advised students to consider their academic arrangements before coming back to Macau. With the aim of gathering data on Macau residents’ plans to return home, the bureau has launched its System for Collecting Information on Residents’ Intention to Return Home (https://s.dsedj.gov.mo/qa/Q0000170/). Residents who have the intention of returning to Macau between this month and September are advised to fill in the respective form and provide information about their intention of returning to Macau and their contact data and flight information so that they can be reached when needed and be provided with the latest information.This will help the Macau government understand the overall situation of Macau residents intending to return home, the statement said. 

 Local residents who are currently outside Macau should pay close attention to the local government's COVID-19 prevention and control measures. The bureau also urged them to read the Macau Health Bureau’s Prevent Novel Coronavirus Pneumonia – Advice for Macau Residents Living,Working or Studying in Medium to High Risk Countries/Areas of COVID-19.

They should also consult the Health Bureau’s Special Web Page Against Epidemics (https://www.ssm.gov.mo/apps1/PreventCOVID-19/ch.aspx#clg17458) for updated information. If needed, they should contact the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre (853-2870 0800; email:info.cdc@ssm.gov.mo), or contact the DSEDJ through email or phone (email: studentblog@dsedj.gov.mo; 853-8396 9233 during office hours), the DSDEJ statement said.

Hundreds of local students enrolled in schools and colleges in mainland China, Taiwan and foreign countries are expected by local education officials to return to Macau during their summer holidays.
