A mainland hotel guest touched the breasts of a Filipina housekeeper while she was cleaning his room on Saturday, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Wong Wai Chon said at a regular press conference yesterday.

According to Wong, PSP officers went to the room and arrested the suspect who denied committing the crime. He claimed that it was just “normal shoulder-to-shoulder physical contact”. The victim is a 30-year-old non-resident worker at the hotel.

The 51-year-old suspect surnamed Lin who holds an Exit-Entry Permit for Travelling to and from Hong Kong and Macau (colloquially known as Two-way Permit), told the police that he is a businessman.

Wong said a staff member of a hotel in Cotai informed the Public Security Police on Saturday that a male hotel guest from the mainland had touched the breasts of a housekeeper while she was cleaning his room earlier that day. The victim told the police that there was no one in the room when she started to clean the room. Lin later returned to his room and spoke to her. However, she did not understand his language. Lin then suddenly touched his chest and she was frightened by his strange behaviour, Wong said.

When she wanted to leave the room, Lin suddenly touched her breasts. She ran away and informed her colleague who called the police immediately.

Lin was transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP) on Monday, facing a sexual harassment charge, according to Wong.
