Anhui-based NIO Inc. held a launch ceremony yesterday at Crowne Plaza Macau for its first-ever NIO House centre in Macau.
Qin Lihong, co-founder and president of NIO, said during the ceremony that NIO is grateful to Macau users for their continued trust and support, which has enabled the brand to consistently rank among the top three in Macau’s new energy vehicle (NEV) market.
“Macau is a key market for NIO as we continue to deepen our presence in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA),” Qin said, adding that the company will further enhance its products, services, and charging and battery-swapping infrastructure.
NIO will bring groundbreaking technologies, continuously upgraded products, and an even more comprehensive, worry-free service experience to users in Macau, according to Qin.
Guangdong Hongyue Automobile Sales Group Co., Ltd. (Hongyue Group) Director Chen Bintong said that his firm has been deeply rooted in the GBA for nearly three decades, always placing service and value first.
Since becoming NIO’s authorised partner in Macau, Chen noted, the group has continuously improved local sales, charging, battery-swapping, and service systems, aiming to deeply embed NIO’s products, services, and community experience in Macau.
Hongyue Group will continue to leverage the resource advantages of the GBA, working alongside NIO to enhance the local user experience and contribute to the development of smart electric vehicles in the region, Chen added.
According to a press statement released during the ceremony, NIO’s flagship SUV, the NIO es9, was presented yesterday at the opening of the centre, further enriching the local product line-up.
NIO offers three brands in the local market: NIO, Onvo, and Firefly. These form a sales and service network comprising one NIO House and one NIO Space, the statement pointed out noting that two battery-swapping stations are already in operation, with planning for a third underway.
The statement added that NIO is a global smart electric vehicle company founded in November 2014, dedicated to delivering high-performance smart electric vehicles and an unparalleled user experience. NIO is the world’s first automotive company listed on three stock exchanges – Hong Kong, Singapore and the United States. With over a decade of development, the company has established itself as one of the world’s leading smart electric vehicle manufacturers.
According to DeepSeek, the carmaker’s English name is pronounced “nee-oh”. Its Chinese name is “蔚来”, pronounced “wèi lái” in Putonghua. Literally translated the name means “azure coming”, but the company’s official brand interpretation in English is “Blue Ski Coming”.
