Aiming to further enhance Guangdong–Macao cross-border social security services and facilitate local residents’ receipt of social security payments in Guangdong Province, the Social Security Fund (FSS) announced in a statement yesterday that it has upgraded the “Guangdong–Macao Pension Link+” service this month, introducing a new online application channel via “Macao One Account” to establish a dual-track system for online and offline processing.

From this month, when residents apply for an old-age pension, disability pension, or sickness allowance via “Macao One Account”, they need only select a designated bank in the Chinese mainland during the application process and upload the relevant bank account details alongside the “Guangdong–Macao Pension Link+” application form. Upon FSS approval, payments will be directly credited to the designated bank account, with cross-border remittance fees being waived, making life in the Chinese mainland more convenient for residents, the statement added.

The statement noted that those already receiving social security payments can continue to submit “Guangdong–Macao Pension Link+” applications at FSS service points, an expanded network of 29 service counters established under the “Guangdong–Macao Social Insurance One-Stop Service”, and local associations operating in Guangdong, enabling applications to be lodged near their place of residence.

Residents wishing to receive the “Two Pensions and Five Allowances” and Central Provident Fund payments disbursed by the FSS in Guangdong must first open a personal bank account with Bank of China (BOC) or the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) in the Chinese mainland.

The statement noted that this approach aims to meet residents’ varied needs and comprehensively improve the convenience of cross-border transactions.
